Jenefer
is a native of Michigan and has studied dance and acting all across the country. She graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts in the Performing Arts from Oakland University in 1997. While attending OU, she
studied Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Voice, and Acting. Her choreography was faculty selected to be
presented at Cornell University for American College Dance Festival. She has also directed and
choreographed shows such as Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Seven Brides for
Seven Brothers, Willy Wonka, and more.
Jenefer’s tap choreography “Down on Wall Street” was aired on ABC for the Showstopper American Dance Championships. She has appeared on stage with Tap 24.7, VIB Dance Theatre, Especially Tap Chicago, the Detroit Tap Festival, and Oakland Dance Theatre. She has performed in shows alongside Fayard N icholas, Dianne Walker, Lane Alexander, Savion Glover, Jimmy Slyde, Rhythm ISS, and more.
Jenefer has studied all types of dance and has studied with legends such as Savion Glover, Dianne Walker, Barbara Duffy, Heather Cornell, Debbie Allen, Frank Hatchett, Hinton Battle, Chet Walker, and Andy Blankenbeuhler. In 2001, Jenefer was honored to perform solo at the Detroit Tap Festival honoring the legendary Nicholas Brothers. She has helped several students obtain scholarships from organizations such as The Chicago Human Rhythm Project, the University of Michigan, and the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts. Consequently, she was presented with an award from Michigan’s former Governor Engler for positive artistic impact on youth and dedication to the field of education.
Jenefer obtained a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix in 2003. She now teaches Theatre at Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School and is a proud sponsor of the drama club where she just directed and choreographed a full production of Beauty and the Beast. Jenefer has also served as the director for Kyrene Community Theatre for three years directing, choreographing and producing shows such as Annie, Guys and Dolls, and Alice in Wonderland. This year, she will be taking a position directing and choreographing for the Musical Theatre of Anthem.
Most recently, she was acclaimed 3rd Runner-Up for Best of Ahwatukee Teachers, received 2nd place for the Ron Clark Inspiration Award from the Kyrene School District, and was nominated by staff for Teacher of the Year. Jenefer has enjoyed watching former dance students, Ryan and Evan Kasprzak, bounce their way to the top on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance! Jenefer is a seasoned performer, dancer, tap dancer, teacher, director, and choreographer. Although she has taught dance all over, she still teaches dance regularly at Center Pointe Dance in Phoenix, which was just voted Best of Ahwatukee for places to dance. Students enjoy her simultaneous wit and calm presence. “Ms. Miller’s work is magical…a thrill and a delight!” Tara Dale (local theatrical review). Currently Jenefer is a member of Tap 24.7, a professional tap ensemble located in the Phoenix Valley. You can see her perform regularly with Tap 24.7 and the band Junk at special Junk on Tap performances.
